if I knew I wasn’t going to fail

Robert H. Schuller, an American televangelist, motivational speaker, author, and pastor, asked, “What would you do if you knew you wouldn’t fail?"

I would be thrilled to know that I wasn't going to fail. Then  I would go after unfulfilled childhood dreams and passions and explore new hobbies. I would dare to do stuff that I wouldn’t otherwise dream of attempting. I would go ahead full steam without a second thought.

Here’s what I would do if I knew I wouldn’t fail:

Climb a tree and a mountain

Fly a plane

Run a marathon

Sing like nobody's watching

Learn to play a musical instrument

Walk ten thousand steps a day

Act in a film

Go hiking

Dance

· Oh! How sweet success would taste if I never had to experience failure. Knowing that I wouldn’t fail would inspire me to help others pursue their dreams and explore ventures they are afraid to take on.

On second thought, would the success be worth it? It’s like being born with a silver spoon in your mouth and your seamless life being handed to you on a platter.

As someone said, “If you’ve never failed, you’ve never lived.” You’ve never experienced the sweat, tears, strife, and struggles. Your boat would never have been rocked. It would be smooth sailing all along.

Failure scares the living daylights out of some of us. WE don't even want to try. The shame of failing and the fear of failing may keep us from venturing into unknown pastures. Celebrities, too, have failed, but that did not stop them from pursuing their dreams.  Failure is the stepping stone to success. You may fall or face rejection, but then with effort and discipline, like a phoenix, you rise again from the ashes.

Celebrities who faced rejection and failure:

·      J.K. Rowling—Before Harry Potter brought her fame, Rowling was a struggling single mother living on welfare and being rejected by numerous publishers.

·      Oprah Winfrey—Oprah was told she wasn’t fit for TV and fired from her first TV news anchor job. She went on to create a highly successful media empire.

·      Walt Disney—Walt Disney was fired from his cartoonist job because he lacked imagination. Walter Disney and the cartoon characters he created remain immortal.

·      Michael Jordan—Michael Jordan was eliminated from his high school basketball team, but today, he is a world-famous basketball player.

·      Lady Gaga—Lady Gaga was dropped from her first record label; however, that did not deter her from pursuing her passion for music, and today she is a global superstar.

In conclusion, the journey of pursuing our dreams is fraught with struggles and setbacks, but it’s these experiences that help us find growth and resilience.

Each failure teaches us valuable lessons, and failure is an essential factor in our success journey. Some of the greatest success stories are rooted in trial, error, perseverance and courage.

Let’s dare to chase our dreams and not be afraid to take on the risks involved.
