Hard: Hero and Villain
Hard: Hero
and Villain
.
I’m known as hard. The dictionary defines me as ‘not soft to the touch and difficult to bend or break.'I can also mean harsh or resolute, and over time, those meanings become part of my personality. You can see me as physical, emotional, serious, or humorous.
People use me as a compliment, a warning, or a reason they couldn’t get closer. They might describe a rough patch in life as a hard time or a hardship. Aha! Pardon me, but I remember maths being one of the hardest subjects for you! It was the greatest ordeal of your school life.
I’ve seen how hard it is for you people to let go of your possessions, relationships, past, fears, pride, and grudges and resentments. Take it from me: you’ll feel lighter and more cheerful when you do.
If you’re a cold, unfeeling, and unforgiving person, you may be described as hard-hearted. Ouch!
Children bring joy to your life, but parenting…that’s hard, I hear. Well, good luck with raising your kids.
I hear you complain about your boss and call him a hard nut to please. That’s quite uncomplimentary, but I do wish he would appreciate all the hard work you do.
Besides, you hardly complain about how hard the diamonds and rubies that you lust after are, and you always want your ice cream, nice and firm.
I hate that you always equate me with difficulty. I’m not all villain. You’re proud of your hard-earned money and the wisdom you’ve gained from hard life lessons. If you’re made of sterner stuff, you can get through those tough times and come out a winner.
I’m kind of famous too! Remember the Beatles song; it's “A Hard Day’s Night," or that humorous one, Lord, It’s Hard to Be Humble.
I would therefore be happy if you remembered the numerous sides I have. I can be a hard taskmaster, or I could be an uncomfortable truth that you must face or the description of the hard-working person that so many admire.
And yes, I understand that this was a hard post to write. Hee hee.

What a wonderful use of the prompt. I loved the Beatle's song. But yes, it's hard to be humble.
